Daily Market Review – Wednesday, October 7, 2026

Markets remain close to record highs, but the backdrop is becoming more challenging: high Treasury yields, oil above $100 and pressure on growth stocks are being offset by strong corporate earnings and continued enthusiasm around AI.

Wall Street enters the session after fresh record highs in both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, but futures point to a more cautious opening. The main source of pressure is the bond market, with the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield hovering around 5.3% and the 30-year yield near 5.7%. These levels are particularly challenging for technology and other long-duration growth stocks.

Oil prices remain above $100 per barrel, reviving concerns about persistent inflation and reinforcing expectations that the Federal Reserve may need to maintain a restrictive policy stance for longer.

At the same time, corporate earnings remain a key source of support. Expectations for strong profit growth continue to underpin the market, while AI, data centers and energy infrastructure remain among the strongest investment themes. However, market concentration remains a concern, as a relatively small number of mega-cap stocks continue to drive a large portion of index gains.

Investors are also focused on the latest Federal Reserve meeting minutes for additional clues regarding inflation risks and the future path of monetary policy. A more hawkish tone could pressure growth stocks, while signs of patience could help stabilize risk assets.

Europe and Asia
European markets are trading modestly lower as rising energy prices and elevated bond yields weigh on sentiment. Technology and financial stocks are under relative pressure, while fiscal concerns in France remain in focus. Asian markets were also weaker, particularly in markets with greater sensitivity to technology and tighter financial conditions.

Israel
The Tel Aviv market remains mixed following several weak sessions. The TA-35 continues to trade under pressure, while the TA-90 is attempting to recover. Volatility remains elevated as local investors balance global market conditions, higher bond yields and geopolitical developments.

Commodities and Currencies
Oil remains one of the most important macro variables, with Brent crude still above $100 per barrel. Elevated energy prices increase inflation risks and complicate the outlook for monetary easing. Gold is trading around the $4,100 level after a strong rally, while the U.S. dollar is strengthening as Treasury yields remain elevated.

Crypto
Cryptocurrencies are under pressure as higher yields and a stronger dollar weigh on risk assets. Bitcoin has slipped below the $85,000 area, highlighting once again how sensitive crypto remains to changes in liquidity conditions and real yields.

Outlook
The central tension remains unchanged: strong earnings growth continues to support equities, but rising bond yields and energy prices are becoming an increasingly important headwind. As a result, the Treasury market may currently be just as important as the stock market itself in determining the next major move.
